The next morning Sylar had gotten up and called Mohinder, delighting himself as he told the Indian man about how they had massacred Matt and Janice. (Scandanlizing Mohinder was still one of his favorite pasttimes). Mohind agreed to come get Matty as soon as Sylar gave him this ultimatum: "Either come pick him up, or Elle and I am going to raise him as our own little protege."

Mohinder had quickly told him he would there and then hung up.

Meanwhile, the serial killer was currently in the kitchen, heating up a bottle of milk. Matty had woken up a while ago, crying and hungry. It was almost strange how easily Sylar slipped into the role of changing diapers and burping the kid and just generally taking care of it. He told himself it was just residual feelings from having been stuck in Matt for so long.

Elle, on the other hand, besides paling in horror at the idea of raising anything as her own (except for a puppy, she'd always wanted one), had spent the entirety of their stay generally avoiding taking care of the child. The involved frequent bathroom trips, watching television, and making a night of dragging Matt and Janice's stiff bodies into some spare room when Matty screamed and hollered for two hours and then finally threw up all over himself. (Obviously, she had taken many breaks.)

It was kind of saintly, and even a bit cute, that Sylar had taken on the responsibility of taking care of the thing, because Elle had yet to come close enough to touch it, and that's just how she liked it.

Instead of walking into the kitchen for breakfast, Elle had decided to sleep in, which meant pretending to be asleep when Sylar got up to call Mohinder (she heard him in the hall) and feed Matty. Now she was lounging under the covers wearing well, nothing, and mindlessly checking the Internet history in Janice's laptop, because she was bored.

She wondered how long it was take Mohinder to get here from wherever he was. Avoiding a baby was exhausting.
