After their tryst inside of his shop, he did not show up at her club again. But he had ended up another club that evening and on the news the next morning was the report of missing blonde stripper, this one named Nikki Sanders. They reported to once again having no leads to the murderer. And as far as he was concerned, they would never have any leads. He was too careful to get caught.

But that was another issue for another time. For now he had changed out of his work clothes and into a pair of dark jeans and a black shirt. On his way he stopped by one of his favorite take out places and got them some Chinese food. He figured they might as well have some food to eat while they made fun of bad TV together.

It was...nice spending time with Elle, and not just because they ended up having sex so often (although that was nice as well). It had been so long since he had just enjoyed someone else's company. It was a nice indulgence even if he knew it could probably never go any farther than it already had. If she knew anything about what he was really like, it would all be over. And he really didn't want to have to kill her.

He made his way to Elle's apartment from his car and stopped outside the door. He brought his hand up and knocked, waiting for her answer.

The anger flared up into her throat, and she pushed away from him a little viciously, shoving at his shoulder and sitting back on the couch, making sure not to touch him. "I will," she said, her voice a little hostile as she took a swig of her beer, unseeingly watching the screen. "And I think you're being kind of a jackass."

He frowned, looking personally offended as he pulled his arm away from her now. "I was just answering your question honestly. What did you want me to say?" He found himself taking a long swig of his beer. As if more alcohol would make things easier or something.

"I don't give a shit," she spat out, turning her head to glare at him. "You didn't have to be so cold." No unfair advantages, sure. He only watched her like a puppy for months and did everything she asked him to.

He did what she asked because he had already picked up a while ago that she had control issues. Sot it was a way to make her think she was in control when really she wasn't. That's how he saw it anyways. "Well, I wasn't trying to be."

She narrowed her eyes at him a little bit more, and then tore her gaze away, her lips still in an annoyed scowl. "Whatever," she said shortly, taking another sip. She didn't really believe him. Not one bit. And either way, he had said she had none, and that bothered her more than she was willing to admit.

He just fell silent, taking another sip from his beer. He wasn't going to apologize to her. He hadn't done anything wrong, not in his eyes. She was just overreacting.

He had done something wrong. He'd been a jerk and that was that. Annoyed, she shifted away from him and leaned on the other arm of the couch. Inviting him over was clearly a mistake. Maybe everything to do with him and her had been a mistake. She didn't need another jerk.

He stayed silent, taking sip after sip of his beer until it was finally gone. The alcohol swirled in his stomach and burnt. Or maybe that was guilt. He wasn't sure.

"...Maybe I wasn't being completely honest," He murmured quietly.

She had spent the awkward silence being just that--silent and fuming, nursing her beer and watching the dumb show. She was thinking she should just ask him to leave soon if this was going to be their entire night, because there was no way he was getting lucky now.

And to be honest, his words didn't really changed her mind about that.

"Oh?" she said dully, as if uninterested in his answer.

Not really, anyway.

"Yeah," he murmured softly in response. "You do have some unfair advantages over me.". He didn't know why he was admitting to this other than the alcohol was burning and swirling in his stomach. "More than I'd like to admit."

Her scowl fell a little, and she picked at the corner of the beer bottle's label absentmindedly. "Like what?" she asked, softer.

"Like the fact that I think about you all the time." He wasn't trying to be over sentimental or romantic, it was just true. He thought about her way too much. He was obsessed.

It didn't sound over sentimental or romantic to her, but maybe it was those shots making her feel a little fuzzy. All it did was speed her heart a little, but maybe that was the alcohol too. But she wanted to know more. That she couldn't explain.

"What about me do you think about?" she nearly whispered, her voice small, soft.

"Lots of things about you," He replies in an equally soft tone. "How pretty you are, how clever you are...how special you are compared to every other girl I've ever met."

She pulled in a shaky breath, quit it with her bottle, and looked off to the side for a moment, trying to ignore how something in her chest seized up and tightened. Those were nice things. Really nice things. Nicer than she could have hoped.

"I was thinking," she whispered. "Maybe if we both had unfair advantages over each other, it's sort of even anyway, right?"

"What unfair of advantage do I have over you?" He asked curiously. He had shared his thoughts, it was only fair she did the same. That's how he saw it.

"Well..." She trailed off with a soft sigh, rested her empty beer against the armrest. Her eyes slid over to him finally, and she felt herself softening just a little bit more at the sight of him. "It doesn't take enough for me to forgive you," she said with a small smile.

"Oh?" He asked with a soft smile before wrapping his arm around her shoulders. He had taken her words as permission. "I could see where that would be a problem."

She didn't make a move to switch towards him though, and instead simply smiled at him, biting her bottom lip just a bit from his welcome, warm touch. "But I can't forgive you unless you say sorry."

He chuckled softly at that. "I'm sorry." He was only doing it because he was a little tipsy and she smelled so nice. It wasn't like he needed her not to be upset with him or something.

Her body moved without even a command back to him, sort of like a spring with nothing to hold it back anymore. She didn't really like that metaphor; its implication. It really was too easy to tuck herself into his side again, wrap her arm over his chest, her chin on his shoulder, and her eyes bright and on him.

A part of her hated it. It was scary.

"I forgive you," she murmured.

"I'm glad," He murmured softly before leaning in to press a soft kiss against her lips. He really disliked the idea of her being angry with him. And he disliked the fact that he disliked it even more.

She kissed him back soundly, still smiling gently, and nudge her nose against his, from side to side. Because she could at it was silly and affectionate and everything she usually wasn't. "Me too."

He glanced at the tv after that, laughing a little. "I think we missed a few shots. Should we just make up for them now?"

"Might as well," she replied, extracting herself from him just a little to retrieve the shot glasses and the bottle.
