Oct. 27th, 2009 09:38 pmIt had been a long and rather annoying process, getting his body back. Longer than he would have liked. More than anything, he just wanted to kill Matt Parkman, make him stay in his stupid head of his for so long. Sylar wasn't the type who liked confinement. In fact, he was exactly the opposite. He needed freedom. The ability to do what he wanted, take what he wanted. Parkman would pay for keeping him from it.
But there was something he needed to do first. Being with Parkman's wife had reminded him how much he missed Elle. He hated admitting to needing or wanting anyone, but if there was one thing he regretted, it was killing her.
He could fix that now. He had heard of this kid who could control life and death. Bennet had helped give him a new life. But that wasn't going to last long. Soon enough, Sylar found Jeremy and killed him (but not before noting how eeringly the kid looked like Luke. Weird). He dug around his brains and found what he was looking for. That delicious power.
Next stop was Costa Verde. He assumed Elle's corpse had to still be there. After all, where else would it have gone? He searched the newspapers until he read about a unidentified burnt corpse that was found the beach. He noted where she was buried and set off.
He was excited, he had to admit, to see her again. It didn't even cross his mind that she might be mad at him. After all, sure, he killed her, but he was bringing her back. That's what mattered, right? That's the way he saw it, anyways.
He found her grave and used his telekinesis to move the soil away, popping open the casket. He kneeled beside her, placing his hands on her burnt remains, focusing on restoring it to it's former glory. He found himself smirking as her body knit back together.
He was going to get her back, and then together they could kill Parkman. What could be better?

He lifted his hand up, his expression softening, looking almost sad as he cupped her face, wiping at some of her tears.
He wanted to apologize, but for what? For forcing her to be with him? For killing her? For bringing her back? He wasn't even sure.
"It wasn't supposed to be like this."

"But I was wrong."

Date: 2009-10-29 09:12 am (UTC)She hated him. More than anyone in the entire world. Even if she wondered what he meant, being out of his body. Even if he was the only one for her, too.
Because he was wrong. Because he'd been so fucking wrong.
"You," she forced out hoarsely. "Killed me."

Date: 2009-10-29 09:17 am (UTC)He didn't mention how everything went to shit after she died. How he had picked up shapeshifting just because he hated himself so badly. That he had turned into his own mother to justify things to himself. And how he had been split into two beings for a while, trapped outside of his body. And he could still somehow remember being inside the Carnival, seeing her death in the house of mirrors.
Even if she knew all that, he doubted it would change anything, so why mention it.

Date: 2009-10-29 09:30 am (UTC)Elle pressed her lips together, tears dripping down her face, and reached for her bag of clothes. "This was a mistake," she said, finally lifting her eyes to meet his. She didn't want to be alive for this. To be resurrected for his own selfish whims. "You don't care about me, Gabriel. You only care about yourself."

And then it struck him...maybe they couldn't be happy. Not anymore.
