It had been a long and rather annoying process, getting his body back. Longer than he would have liked. More than anything, he just wanted to kill Matt Parkman, make him stay in his stupid head of his for so long. Sylar wasn't the type who liked confinement. In fact, he was exactly the opposite. He needed freedom. The ability to do what he wanted, take what he wanted. Parkman would pay for keeping him from it.

But there was something he needed to do first. Being with Parkman's wife had reminded him how much he missed Elle. He hated admitting to needing or wanting anyone, but if there was one thing he regretted, it was killing her.

He could fix that now. He had heard of this kid who could control life and death. Bennet had helped give him a new life. But that wasn't going to last long. Soon enough, Sylar found Jeremy and killed him (but not before noting how eeringly the kid looked like Luke. Weird). He dug around his brains and found what he was looking for. That delicious power.

Next stop was Costa Verde. He assumed Elle's corpse had to still be there. After all, where else would it have gone? He searched the newspapers until he read about a unidentified burnt corpse that was found the beach. He noted where she was buried and set off.

He was excited, he had to admit, to see her again. It didn't even cross his mind that she might be mad at him. After all, sure, he killed her, but he was bringing her back. That's what mattered, right? That's the way he saw it, anyways.

He found her grave and used his telekinesis to move the soil away, popping open the casket. He kneeled beside her, placing his hands on her burnt remains, focusing on restoring it to it's former glory. He found himself smirking as her body knit back together.

He was going to get her back, and then together they could kill Parkman. What could be better?

"They'll grow back," He replied in a nonchalant sort of voice. "Why are you fighting this?" He asked softly. "You know you don't really hate me. Would it help if I said I was sorry? I've only ever regretted killing a few people, and you're one of them. Doesn't that make you feel special?"

She sparked viciously in warning, her lashes lifting to reveal a set of hard, unrelenting eyes. "You don't make me feel special, Gabriel," she whispered cruelly, and it wasn't a lie, not really. She'd always known she was special--before him, after him, and him killing her certainly didn't make her feel like anything but shit, but he didn't need to know that unsavory part. "You're the one who needs something to make you feel special."

"You called me Gabriel again," He said with a proud smile, running his fingers against her sides. "I knew you still liked me." He bristled a little at her accusation. "I don't need confirmation, I know I'm special."

She shivered involuntarily, her eyes slipping closed. It just felt nice, that was all. Anybody could do that to her and it would feel nice. Her head tilted to the side, towards his, and she smiled softly, viciously. "Is that why everything you do is about proving just how special you are, Gabriel?" She laughed gently. "You're pathetic. You've always been pathetic, and no amount of abilities will change that," she hissed.

Harsh, but the truth was harsh. She wasn't so sure anymore why she was trying so hard to break him. For fun? To see if she could? To find some semblance of control where she had none?

Maybe all three.

His eyes flickered and narrowed, and he would be lying if he said she hadn't hit a sore spot. "I am not pathetic," He hissed, his voice almost desperate as he tightened his hold on her.

He just didn't like the thought of not being special, that's all. It had nothing to do with the fact that she was the one saying this to him. She didn't have any control over him. He was the one in control here.

He just had to keep reminding himself of that.

She gasped as he squeezed her closer, and turned her curled, victorious lips around further, resting them on the stubble over his curved jaw. "Let me move, Gabriel."

"If I do, you might just try to escape again," He countered, letting his lips brush against hers now. "Besides, I'm comfortable like this."

She inhaled shakily, her eyes flickering down to his soft mouth. It only took a split second too long to resolutely turn her flushing face forward. "I'm not," she said stubbornly.

"You're lying. You like how I feel pressed against you." He trailed his hand up her side. "My fingers against your skin. How wonderfully in time we can move together."

She couldn't help it. Her head tipped back; her skin tingled with electricity, and she laughed gently, even as her mind and heart raced, because he was right, about all of it. Except maybe the comfortable part, completely. Being restrained by telekinesis wasn't very comfortable at all.

"If only I could move," she whispered forlornly.

"Promise me," He whispered softly. "Promise me you won't try to run off if I let go of you. I have to know I can try you. And if you're lying, I'll know, Elle. It has to be a sincere promise."

She let out an annoyed puff of air and a soft keen, dropping her head forward. Sincere? He was asking her to be sincere? Was he joking? "I promise," she whined, but it was more than a complaint than anything. Oh, and it was also a complete lie.

He laughed softly, brushing his lips against her neck as he felt the tingle go off with her lie. "I told you not to lie, Elle. If you keep this up, I'll never let you go. Though I could live with that arrangement."

"This isn't fair," she moaned, so frustrated she was near tears. She tried everything. Everything. Besides whining. "I can't even commit to watching a TV show."

"But you can see my predictment, can't you? I went through all this trouble to get a power just to bring you back, what would be the point if I just let you escape?" He asked softly. He didn't like seeing her cry, but it couldn't be helped.

The muscles in her legs were getting really stiff, and they hurt. She was still a little weak from not moving them for six months and all. Elle slumped and sobbed dryly. The worst part was she could see his predicament. How many times had she tortured prisoner in almost the exact same way?

"I promise, okay?" she snapped, her voice defeated and raspy. "I'll try to escape tomorrow." What was the point of lying about it, anyway?

And as there was no tingle of a lie, he let her go, smirking victoriously. "See? Was that so hard?" He asked, brushing back some of her hair.

"Yes," she said, swatting his hand away and dragging herself to the bed to snuggle under the covers. She pulled them over her head and curled into a fetal position. As if she was going to let him touch her unless she wanted something.

Maybe if he fell asleep before sunrise, she could try to sneak out then.

He probably wouldn't sleep very heavily for the night. He was too nervous about the idea that she might try to leave, honestly. But for now he got into bed next to her, watching her as she drifted off to sleep.

When Elle woke up, rays of sun were streaming through the thin cheap curtains, and her head had somehow ended up near Sylar's shoulder, his heavy arm draped around her waist.

He was breathing steadily, and she was trapped in a cocoon under half his chest (even in his sleep he was overbearing, she thought with a scoff), so instead of trying to escape, she laid there, watching the remains of darkness die as the sun rose.

Plus, his warm, solid body was pressed down on hers, his heavy breath snoring lightly beside her ear, and it was tickling the sensitive skin of her neck. She might have enjoyed it, just a little, and maybe she had moved a lock of his long hair off of his cheek.

She figured that at least he wasn't gelling it back like a douche bag anymore.

Eventually though, she needed to go to the bathroom, and she figured she might as well try to get away instead of giving up. With a sigh, she tried to move, to unwedge her body from underneath his. It would be a shame, she realized, if he woke up, besides the obvious reason. She kind of liked him when he was quiet.

As she moved beneath him, he began to stir. As he predicted, he wasn't in a deep sleep at all. In fact, he had spent most of the night watching her as opposed to actually sleeping. A little paranoid, yes, but he was nothing if not a little paranoid. He couldn't help it, it was in his nature.

His eyes opened and he let out a soft yarn, wrapping his arms around her before pulling her close to him once more. He didn't want to lose her warmth just yet. It had been such a nice surprise when she had curled up to him in the middle of the night. He didn't want to give it up just yet.

Besides, she could be trying to escape, and he just couldn't allow that.

She sighed in disappointment, lifted her hand to his shoulder wearily as her eyes fluttered closed. "Can sunshine please use the bathroom?" she asked dryly, her lips moving against his jaw.

He laughed softly, releasing her however reluctantly. "Yes, you can." He wasn't worried. There weren't any windows in the bathroom.

That was a fact she had bemoaned during half of her shower, and now again, when she wriggled from his arms to pad into the room and shut the door. She looked balefully up at the itty bitty vent circulating air for a few moments, and then finally sat on the toilet, brushed her teeth, washed her face, and dragged herself back into the bedroom with the deepest sour puss on her face she could manage.

"You're a sucky kidnapper," she complained, jumping back on the bed and sitting back on her heels. "I'm really bored already."

He was already up and getting dressed, pulling his pants on and doing the buckle when she made her way back on the bathroom. "Well lucky for you, we're going out. I told you I would buy you clothes and take you out for breakfast today, didn't I?" He threw her a pair of shorts. "I think these might fit you better than the sweat pants." After all, she couldn't go out just wearing a shirt.
