It had been a long and rather annoying process, getting his body back. Longer than he would have liked. More than anything, he just wanted to kill Matt Parkman, make him stay in his stupid head of his for so long. Sylar wasn't the type who liked confinement. In fact, he was exactly the opposite. He needed freedom. The ability to do what he wanted, take what he wanted. Parkman would pay for keeping him from it.

But there was something he needed to do first. Being with Parkman's wife had reminded him how much he missed Elle. He hated admitting to needing or wanting anyone, but if there was one thing he regretted, it was killing her.

He could fix that now. He had heard of this kid who could control life and death. Bennet had helped give him a new life. But that wasn't going to last long. Soon enough, Sylar found Jeremy and killed him (but not before noting how eeringly the kid looked like Luke. Weird). He dug around his brains and found what he was looking for. That delicious power.

Next stop was Costa Verde. He assumed Elle's corpse had to still be there. After all, where else would it have gone? He searched the newspapers until he read about a unidentified burnt corpse that was found the beach. He noted where she was buried and set off.

He was excited, he had to admit, to see her again. It didn't even cross his mind that she might be mad at him. After all, sure, he killed her, but he was bringing her back. That's what mattered, right? That's the way he saw it, anyways.

He found her grave and used his telekinesis to move the soil away, popping open the casket. He kneeled beside her, placing his hands on her burnt remains, focusing on restoring it to it's former glory. He found himself smirking as her body knit back together.

He was going to get her back, and then together they could kill Parkman. What could be better?

He groaned as she straddled him, placing his hands on her hips to draw her closer to him now. "This is just like I remembered it too," He whispered softly. "I knew it was a good idea, bringing you back to me."

She didn't feel anything when his hands grabbed at her, she didn't--only some horrible, twisting sickness in her gut, and choking rage. She was just too disoriented to push his hot touch on her dirty skin away, to reply with anything other than a hissed, "I hate you." And then she loaded him with more electricity, the flash of blue and white blinding her already sensitive eyes.

He writhed beneath her in pain as she electrocuted him again, his body lighting up from the sheer amount. It's the most real sensation he's felt in a long time. Just another reason of why he was so glad to be back in his own body.

"No you don't, you just wish you did," He shot back.

His words felt like a slap in the face, and the fading electricity flowing from her palms spiked, surged into him with renewed, harsh vigor. "Please. You just wish I didn't, you psychotic murderer," she rasped out, sobbed out of her hoarse, unused throat.

"If you didn't you would have ran away from me as soon as I brought you back," He shot back, groaning in pain. "Why stay and hurt someone you can't kill? Why take the risk of upsetting me? Unless you want me to kill you again, is that what you want Elle?" He paused for a moment, smirking. "You don't. Because you still care about me." He let his hands skim up her bare skin. "Which is why you're still hear, letting out your anger at me. You know what they say. You only hurt the ones you love."

"You talk too much," she gasped out, starting to feel light-headed, her skin shivering, bare and cold in the night air--and not from his roaming hands. She didn't care about his incessant rambling, his stupid enlightened psycho babble about all her irrelevant motives--fictional and not. "Not enough screaming," she forced out, and gave him everything left in her weak body, the electricity flowing into him in thick, brutal streams.

He cried out, arching his back as another stream of electricity flowed through his body. His shirt was completely burnt off at this point, leaving his chest bare as it began to heal back up, leaving him gasping for air.

It didn't matter if she listened or not because he knew he was right.

She collapsed against his chest with one last jerking jolt, blackness lacing into her consciousness. She was exhausted and a little sick, and her limbs felt so heavy. Her lashes fluttered, her thick vision sliding over blades of grass and the stone of tombstones before disappearing altogether.

She almost hoped she was going to die again, but that would be too nice of a thing to happen to her now, wouldn't it?

He wrapped his arms around her, running his fingers through her hair. It felt so good to have her in his arms again, it overrode everything else. She would come around. She did last time she claimed to hate him, after all.

He rubbed his hands down her body, carefully focusing on the healing power he had acquired. If he could make her feel a little better, maybe that would expedite things.

She groaned softly as she came to, to soothing, massaging big hands all over her body. And they felt amazing, even if they didn't help the weakness in her neglected muscles, the painful pit in her stomach. How long had she been dead, anyway?

A cough tickled her throat, and she turned her cheek to his chest as it forced itself out into the air. And she remembered then who was breathing steadily beneath her, who was touching her like it was even a little bit welcome. "Don't touch me," she murmured, injecting all the life she could into her voice.

"Why would I bring you back if I wasn't planning on touching you," He whispered softly, tucking some of her hair behind her ear. She was so beautiful. No other woman compared to her. Not Claire, not Lydia, not Janice, not anyone. He had been foolish to kill her, he saw that now.

But it was all going to be okay. He fixed things.

She wanted to flinch away from his touch, but she didn't have the strength at the moment. "When I can move again," she mumbled darkly, "I'm going to kill you." She paused to cough again. "After a shower. And food. And clothes."

Really, he was horrible at this resurrection thing. It was cold out. And she was covered in dirt. And he was star-gazing.

In his defense, he had never brought someone back to life before. He didn't really know what sort of protocol was involved.

He carefully stood to his feet, wrapping his arm around her waist for support. "I would offer you my shirt, but you burnt it off of me."

Elle didn't really care about his defense for anything. He killed her, so she was liable to not cut him any slack. And that was why she gritted her teeth, her nostrils flaring with anger, when she realized after that bout of adrenaline, standing was only possible at the moment by holding onto him for dear life.

Ironic.

"You killed me," she retorted sarcastically. "I win."

"I was able to bring you back," He commented in a matter of fact as he led her back to the car he had stolen. "I'm pretty sure I win in this situation." It was nice, feeling her cling to him like this, even if she was only doing it because she had to and not because she wanted to.

And she couldn't even argue with that, so she fell back on a nice, reliable, and totally applicable default. "I hate you," she repeated, trying to willing her legs to walk as he dragged her along.

"You know," He mused with a smirk as he led her back to the car, opening up the passengers side for her. "I can tell when you're lying, now." He got into the driver's side, turning for a moment to pull a jacket he had in the back out. He handed it to her. It was better than nothing.

Well, of course he could. Elle all but collapsed into the seat with a heavy eye roll, scowling and folding her legs against her chest, curling against the soft cushions.

"Good," she said, sneering at the jacket, but wrapping it around her shoulders anyway. Really, if he was going to bring her back to life because he was an indecisive psycho, couldn't he at least have the foresight to bring her something to wear. "Now you know when I'm telling the truth. I. Hate. You."

And she wasn't lying. Pretty much. She was pretty sure about that.

He was surprised when that didn't twinge as much as he expected it to. His expression dropped a little as he turned the car on and headed in the direction of the motel he had been staying at.

"There's time. You'll come around, " He finally stated with a shtrug. "You won't hate me forever."

The idea that she would made his stomach turn in a way he wasn't expecting.

"We'll see about that," she grumbled stubbornly, resting her chin on her knees. She didn't much care--at all--about why he found it in his stupid dead heart to bring her back, and she didn't care to know.

Elle gazed out the window, trying to avoid her contemplative reflection in the rear view mirror, her lips and brow worried with slight upset. She did hate him. She was furious. He killed her, and for what? For nothing.

The moment she had her strength back, she was just going to leave. She spent her whole life before that beach latching onto other people, expecting someone to give a shit. This was her second chance. Elle wasn't going to need anyone, not now.

As if he was going to let her just leave. If she tried, he would just track her down again. He had brought her back for him, after all. No way was he letting her just leave him.

It had been a mistake, killing her. He had been so confused, and so sure she was lying to him about his parents, just like everyone else. And his hunger had overwhelemed him once the eclipse ended and he got his powers back. It had been a mistake. But he was going to fix it now.

Eventually, after driving in silence, they got to the motel he had been staying at. He helped her out the car and led her into the room.

"There's a shower you can use here, and you can borrow some of my clothes until we can get you some of your own."

The moment they were in the room, she yanked away from him, his touch crawling uncomfortably (or maybe too comfortably) over her skin. She shed his jacket like it was infected and headed as dignified as she could, naked and wobbling, into the bathroom. Elle slammed the door behind her, pointedly. And locked it, pointedly.

He had to know she was mad. And everything she did would remind him of it until the second she left. If she couldn't kill him, making him feel like shit would do.

She nearly gagged at her reflection in the mirror. Her hair was tangled and frizzy, and everywhere, she was covered in dirt and grime and--Elle turned straight to the bathtub, lowering herself to sit, more willing than ever to be near water.

As if a locked door could stop him. Still, he got the message and sat on the bed, sighing softly as he ran his fingers through his hair. She was more upset than he expected her to be, honestly.

So he screwed up. He brought her back. That showed he cared, didn't it? Why didn't that mean anything to her? He'd have to prove to her that he needed her, that he wasn't just going to let her go.

She was his, after all, and she just had to learn that.

He began to undo his belt buckle, stripping to change into clothes to sleep in.

She lost count of how many times she washed her hair, her body, but it was until the water started twisting down the drain clean. But no matter how many times she tried, no matter how much conditioner she used, no matter how much pain it caused, her hair was... knotted so badly she was pretty sure she'd have to cut it. And she was equally sure she might cry. Her chest grew tighter with each tug she tried to work through the strands, and the tears were building by the time the comb broke and started to use her fingers.

It just wasn't fair. Did he have to kill her, and leave her in a grave for so long she'd have to shave her head, too?

She let out a frustrated growl, picked up the broken comb, and hurled it at the door. "Sylar!" she called out his name angrily (he wasn't Gabriel anymore), her face contorted in anger. He was going to fix this.

He might have tried to find a way to revive her sooner, but for months he hadn't even been in his own body, and that had been a more pressing concern. Not that she knew about any of that, but still.

His eyes widened in surprise as she called out his name. Not only that she was calling for him...but the name she used. He had almost been Gabriel to her, even when he had insisted on her calling him Sylar. And now she was calling him Sylar and...it hurt, somehow. He didn't understand it.

He got up and made his way to the bathroom door, using his telekensis to pop it open with ease. "What do you want?"
