The time spent in the Texas branch of Primatech had not been completely without merit. He had picked up alot of important information while they ran their tests on him, not the least of it being the address of the Cheerleader.

He would have escaped sooner if that stupid girl, Eden, hadn't shot herself. Still, her presence had made his mind wander back to someone else he had known back when he was still Gabriel, a name he heard repeated threw the walls a few times:

Elle Bishop.

The facts he gathered were simple enough. She was an agent and worked at the facility in New York. Which was where he headed as soon as he got out (which took alot longer than he liked. He had almost died in there). Especially with Claire's father being an agent, he had a feeling having an agent on his side would help.

And if it didn't, well then he could finally kill the bitch, which he would do eventually either way.

Breaking into the building was surprisingly simple. A few agents tried to stop him, but he killed them, and got the information on where to find what he was looking for. Who he was looking for. She was just an ends to a means, of course. There was no other reason for him coming to get Elle.

He twisted his hand, ripping open the door for her bedroom before stalking his way inside. He could hear the alarms going off, and they were probably calling out more agents to come after him. The sooner he got out, the better.

"You could have stopped me," He hissed in anger. But it was too late. This was who he was now. Sylar. He could never go back to just being Gabriel again, even if he wanted to, which he didn't. "I confined in you and you used it against me, so if I'm a monster, what does that make you?"

"Is this why to kidnapped me? I know it can't really be Noah," she spit back, her blue eyes narrowing up at him, her heart beating hard against her chest, her mind spinning at his words. She didn't want to face this. She spent so much time not facing this. "To piss and moan about how I ruined your boring life?" Elle leaned forward, her voice raising. "I tried to stop you! You're just as much of a monster as I am! At least I'm not crying like a little bitch over it."

He rolled his eyes at her accusation. "Don't get me wrong, I should be thanking you, really. To think, if you hadn't opened my eyes, I would have remained that pathetic fool. If I was really that bitter over things, don't you think I would have just killed you?" He couldn't help but smirk a little as her voice raised, proving that his words were getting to her. Good.

After all, it was her fault. She should feel bad.

It wasn't her fault. She didn't feel bad. The greedy breaths she was drawing into her chest slowed by her will alone, and she glared up at him with every fiber of hatred in her being. "Then shut the fuck up and be grateful," she ordered succinctly.

She wouldn't argue that Gabriel hadn't been pathetic, or a fool. Or that maybe she would feel better about what she did if he tried to kill her.

"I'm just saying, you've already helped me along this far, you might as well help me again," He shrugged his shoulders lightly as he watched her, reveling at her slow, shallow breaths. "Besides, it's help me or be killed, and as you've already proven what you'll do to protect yourself, I would think the choice would be simple."

"I'd rather die than help you," she announced without a beat, her lip curling up nastily. Mostly, the last thing in the world she wanted to do was to say she'd help him. Just on principle.

"That can be arranged," He got off the bed, setting the pack of ice down before stalking his way over to her. At least it wouldn't be a complete waste, getting her. He would be getting her delicious power, at the very least.

He brought his hand up to make the incision, ignoring the small, insignificant voice that told him not to do it. Why shouldn't he? She didn't mean anything to him.

Her breath caught, and she didn't breathe as he got up and silently made his way over. Her eyes softened with fear, indecision, hopelessness. What could she do? How could she fight? She wasn't going to take it back like a coward, she wasn't.

Maybe she'd rather die. Would rather die at his hand because she deserved it. It would make her feel better, right? She'd betrayed the only person she'd ever felt close to, the only person that had made her feel something--feel tender, and loving, and careful. Everyone before and since had been things.

Wasn't this just poetic justice?

Elle watched his hand raise and closed her pained, shimmering eyes.

"You know, this is usually the part where people try to bargain for their lives," He mused with genuine curiosity. For all her ferocity earlier, he hadn't expected her to just sit there and let him kill her so easily. He expected to gather her strength, her shocks, and fight back, or something. Anything but this.

He was almost disappointed. Okay, maybe more than almost.

Why was he hesitating? Why wasn't he just cutting her head open? It didn't matter that she had once been important because she had betrayed him, and that was unforgivable. She had lied and used him. He was supposed to hate her. How many times had he imagined cornering her like this? Killing her? Sometimes, he fucked her first but he always killed her.

So why was he hesitating? Why couldn't he move?

It didn't make sense.

Her breath shook as it left her, and she bowed her head at his words, because of course he wasn't going to do it fast. Would it be too sappy to say she had nothing left to bargain with? Everything she had once thought mattered--the Company, her prisoners, her spark--had lost its shine after that day in his apartment. None of it really mattered anymore--playing with the idiots locked up, trying to prove herself to Daddy, over and over again.

Elle had been called a lot of things--a sadistic bitch, a sociopath, a psychopath. It wasn't until she had broken Gabriel's heart that she knew how those nasty things she did could possibly be wrong.

The guilt was eating her alive. If there was no forgiveness, she'd take his revenge. She'd rather that than care.

Her eyes fluttered open, and she stared at her fingers grasping her folded knees. "Whatever you want from me, you can't have. So do it before I kill you first."

"If you were going to kill me or fight back, you would have done it already," He said in a matter of fact tone. He couldn't help but feel sad. His whole life he had been trying to find someone he actually connected with, and he had thought he had finally found it in her. But he had been mistaken. She was just like everyone else.

So why couldn't he just kill her? It would be so much more simple.

But if he was going to kill her anyways, then was one other thing he wanted to do, had wanted to do since he first met her, since before she betrayed him, something that he kind of hated himself for still wanting. But better to do it than kill her and wonder what it would have been like, right?

He leaned in, pressing his lips against hers with a surprising gentleness. At the very least, maybe this would stop her from being this whimpering willing victim. It didn't seem right.

She gasped at the touch of his lips, suddenly warm and soft against hers. How many times had she imagined them, when he was still Gabriel? And even after, pretending that she hadn't betrayed him, and they'd ate that dinner without Trevor, and he'd kissed her just like this, before she led him to bed?

Her mouth parted, and her eyes clenched closed, her arms lifted up on their own volition to encircle his neck. Maybe he wasn't mad, like he said. Maybe he did forgive her. Maybe he really was grateful, and she had nothing to want to die for, and she could go back to how she used to be.

He gasped softly as she returned the kiss, and he found himself pulling her closer to him now. This was supposed to just be an experiment, to just see how it felt like, so why was he lingering? Why wasn't he pulling away and killing her? Because if she wasn't going to help him, why keep her alive?

He had only come after her because she would be useful to him, right? He didn't feel any attachment to her now. He didn't want to feel attachment to her, weakness for her like Gabriel did. It was too risky. How could he trust her?

He was supposed to hate her. So why couldn't he just pull away?

She panted softly against his lips, dragged up to her knees by his arms, and cradled his head against hers with her fingers, brushing them through his short, soft locks. He was so warm, and she held onto him hard and pulled herself to her feet to press against him on tip-toe. It was better than she'd imagined, wished, and so overdue.

What had started out as just curiosity was slowly evolving into something else, and he wasn't sure if he could stop kissing her now if he tried. Her lips felt warm and soft against his and that ache of betrayal that had sat in his chest since the night she brought in Trevor, it lifted, just a little bit.

How he had gone from about to kill her to holding onto her so tightly, he wasn't sure. But he had never really been sure of anything, when it came to Elle.

He finally broke away, panting softly as his lungs demanded air. He wanted to ask her to stay with him. To help him. But he wasn't going to beg, he was better than that.

"I'm sorry," she whispered. She wanted to say she would stay with him. She would help him. She wanted to tell him how she felt about him, why she had betrayed him, but all she could manage was those two choked words. Only that and brushing her lips against his again as he tried to catch his breath, as she did.

The moment felt so precious, so fragile, and she gazed up at him with sad eyes, letting him hold her so close it hurt. She didn't want to die anymore, not really. She just wanted a happy ending. That wasn't so unrealistic, was it?

"I'm supposed to hate you," He murmured softly against her lips, more to himself than anyone else. Because he was supposed to hate her, blame her for what he had become. But he didn't, not really. He hadn't been lying when he said he was grateful. He had more pride in being Sylar than he ever had in Gabriel.

He pressed his lips against hers for another kiss, trying to loose himself in it. He couldn't promise her a happy ending, he didn't know if such a things existed for him anymore. Before, he might have been able to stop killing, but not now. He didn't want to stop now.

She didn't care if he stopped killing or not. Elle liked killing, although she didn't do it as often as she would like. Happy was relative. He didn't have to be wholly the Gabriel she knew for a happy ending, and it was clear he was hardly that Gabriel at all. Except for this, right now. She moaned softly, licking his lips breathlessly. "I don't hate you," she whispered.

He brushed his lips against hers gently, running his fingers through her hair. "I don't hate you either."

And he didn't. For as much as he tried to, he didn't.

The weight that left her heart lightened her, and Elle closed her eyes, savoring his tender touch. He didn't hate her. That made her feel more relieved than dying ever could. She sighed and tiredly hummed, dropping her head to his chest. It was still throbbing, but she felt less angry about being kidnapped now. A little. Enough to try not to escape anymore.

He gingerly picked her up, carrying her back to the bed now. She needed he rest. He'd ask her about helping him again in the morning. He lied her on the bed before pulling away. He undid his jeans, kicking them off, leaving him in his boxers and shirt. That would do for sleeping. He climbed into the other bed, glancing back over to her.

"You should get some rest."

It was odd, and strangely intimate, watching him watch her from across the divide, their heads resting against pillows. She almost wanted to tell him to get in her bed instead, and for a still moment she had thought he was going to as he shed his pants. But he didn't, and Elle didn't want to cling to him unnecessarily.

She was still breathing a little too fast, and she twisted to her side towards him, to the very edge of the bed, maneuvering under the covers. She wasn't sure she would sleep at all.

He almost wanted to crawl into her bed, but really, the distance was a comfort in some ways. He was still confused by what had transpired between them. It wasn't supposed to be like this, intimate. He had been so sure he had just taken her for her usefullness.

But no he wasn't so sure anymore.

Elle slept restlessly. She twisted and turned and kicked off her sheets only to wake up cold and pull them back on. Eventually, she ended up shedding her heavy slacks and her shirt in a sweaty fit, modesty be damned (not that she had any to begin with), and blissfully drifted off in just her thin tank and undies until she grew cold again.

She attributed all of this to her head wound and how it ached and throbbed and itched all night, and she was afraid to sleep too deeply just in case she started scratching it, and open it up all over again.

What was worse, what little sleep she had was full of even more restless dreams of Sylar, and Gabriel, and sex and death and by the time her eyes finally opened blearily to morning light with an aggravated moan, Elle was even more exhausted than she was when she'd started to sleep. The sheets were tangled around her legs, the hair in front of her eyes was caked with blood, and she felt absolutely disgusting.

Sylar had barely slept at all. He couldn't. He was too paranoid that if he closed his eyes, she would be gone once he opened them again. Not that it mattered if she left or not, he told himself, but it would be an inconvenience. After all, he had gone through alot of trouble to kidnap her.

Other than for a small, two hour nap, he spent most of the night watching her toss and turn. More than once he had been tempted to climb in her bed and try to soothe her, but he always managed to talk himself out of it, even when she shed her clothes, leaving her just in her tank top and underwear. He had never seen so much of her before, but he certainly wasn't complaining.

As she began to stir he was already up, making himself a cup of coffee for the morning. He glanced over at her, raising a curious brow. "Did you sleep well?" He knew the answer, but she didn't need to know he had been watching her all night.
